Though an ophthalmic unit was already in service at Mahavir Arogya Sansthan it was proposed to set up a separate unit “Mahavir Netralaya” to cater the needs of increasing number of patients and provide quality services for which the patients are going outside state to Chennai, Sitapur, Aligarh. The Mahavir Netralaya was accordingly established and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar Jee on 21.01.2007. The Netralaya has extended quality services to a large number of patient on nominal cost. Specialist from Shankar Netralaya Chennai and other reputed Eye Hospital at kolkota, Aligarh, Sitapur are visiting the Sansthan at frequent interval and extending their expertise to the poor patients of the Sansthan. Affordable rate has been fixed for all services. More than 150 patients are attending the OPD daily the poor patients are treated free.
Senior Citizen and disabled are provided concessional consultation and treatment. An OPTICAL SHOP (MAHAVIR OPTICALS) is also run by the Netralaya providing quality frames and glasses at low cost. Senior Eye Specialist at Patna are rendering free services to Sansthan. The working hours are 9 AM to 5 PM.
Mahavir Mandir trust organizes medical camps, provides free medicines and subsidized treatment to a large number of poor and needy patients every year. All the cancer patients up to the age of 12 years are taken special care of by the temple trust and it spends more than three crores per annum on the philanthropic projects for persons belonging to middle and low income groups.
(5) REGISTRAITON CHARGES:
The charges of the Sansthan are symbolic and affordable. Patients are charged Rs twenty and Rs ten (for senior citizen) per registration valid for 1 month for consultation. Investigation and operation charges are similarly minimal keeping in view the economic strata of the patients coming to this Sansthan.
Mahavir Arogya Sansthan will shortly be imparting training to Optometrist, PGDMCH courses students and ANM as study center of IGNOU.
(4) NATIONAL PROGRAMME:
Mahavir Arogya Sansthan is a charitable, Philanthropic, state-of-the-art, organization sponsored and controlled by Mahavir Temple Trust, Patna. The foundation stone of the Sansthan was laid down by Respected SHANKARCHARYA OF Dwarika Peeth Swami Sawrupanand jee on 7/11/1988. It started functioning from 1/1/1989 in a rented building at Kidwaipuri, Patna. Subsequently it shifted to Kankarbagh area – the largest colony of Patna with population of poor and middle class families. Initially the Sansthan started functioning as an OPD hospital till December 05 when on pressing demand and increasing number of patients the Temple Trust purchased its own land and building (old nursing home of Late Dr.S.N.Upadhyay) and took on lease the adjacent building (old Hotel Jayasarmin) to start all superspeciality services and its own 60 bedded indoor hospital.
THE AIM OF THE SANSTHAN:
A vision of Achary Kishore Kunal and the first venture of Mahavir Temple Trust Mahavir Arogya Sansthan was established with objective of providing the best possible medicare with ultramodern techniques in all the specialties and superspecialities to the poor and middle class families at affordable cost. Senior citizens, disabled and about 3500 family of urban slum dwellers at Patna are registered for almost free medical advise. With the increasing cost of medicines, investigation charges and superspeciality services it was becoming extremely unaffordable for the poor and middle class family to avail these facilities. The main aim of the Sansthan was to help such group of people to get the ultramod treatment from which they were debarred due to their poor economic status.

Bihar and Jharkhand make a major chunk of the Hindi heartland of India. With a population of about 14 crores, the two states have a major burden of neonatal and mother patients. The existing few small neonatal and mother care treatment units are highly inadequate to cater increasing number of such patients. This area was lacking a comprehensive neonatal care centre for a long time where all the treatment facilities were not available under one roof.
Realising this huge burden and lack of adequate treatment facilities in this part of the country, the famous Sri Mahavir Sthan Nyas Samity had planned to establish a superspeciality neonatal and mother care hospital for the first time. As per the plan, the foundation stone of this charitable hospital had been laid down on 21st October 2003 by Hon’ble Mahamandaleshwar Swami Sri Vidyanand Giri Maharaj of Kailash Aashram, Haridwar and its inauguration held on 30th April 2006 by Sri Nitish Kumar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar. With spiritual blessings, within a short time it has become excellent center, probably, the best neonatal and pediatric care hospital in Bihar and Jharkhand and capable to fulfill medical requirements to poor people of the society. During this period, Sri Mahavir Sthan Nyas Samity planned to convert this hospital as a 120 bedded general superspeciality hospital where better treatment regarding Neonatal, Obstetrics & Gyanaecology, Orthopaedics, Eye, Orodental and General medicine may be provided to the downtrodden people of the society under one roof uninterruptedly round the clock on no profit basis.

Mahavir Cancer Sansthan is a state of the art, 450 bedded comprehensive cancer hospital, established in phases since Dec. 1998 and managed by famous Mahavir Mandir Trust as an organisation not for profit.
Mahavir Cancer Institute & Research Centre is an institute with spiritual blessings of heavenly powers. Within a short time it has become the Centre of Healing for cancer patients and meets the requirements of economically weaker sectors of the society.
